Happy Stuff.

This week was pretty important for me.

I woke up on Wednesday morning to 1,007 pageviews. Now, this may seem like a very small number to some of you bloggers with big audiences, but, let me tell you...it means a heck of a lot to me.
So, thank you if you have viewed/followed my blog. It does make me smile!
The second important thing that happened was that I won the English Award out of my entire school. This makes me feel the kind of happy that words cannot describe.
You see, I love writing. I am also one of those (awesome) dorks who actually enjoys reading. You will either find this really sad or you will be waving your hands in the air saying "Me too!"

Anyways, I am sorry for lack of arty posts recently. I haven't really had a moment to actually stop and paint for a couple of hours. This upsets me a bit, but I have been given an art project on aboriginal art, so I will keep you updated!

What have you guys been up too this week?

Have a fab week,
Fran☺

A Little Thought...

Recently, my friend's phone sadly got stolen.
She went on to ring me (whilst bawling her eyes out) to ask me for advice.
I saw her the next day, expecting her to be very upset...but she was happy.
I was quite suprised and asked her how she could be so happy, when something so important to her was now gone.
She replied simply in a confident tone, "Oh honey, I did all my crying yesterday."

I thought I would share this with you, because it really struck a chord with me.
I mean when something bad happens, why dwell over it? Just get on with life and be happy.

P.S - Do you like my new blog design? I think I'm pretty happy with it :)

"Why Should I Start a Blog?"

I'm pretty new to the blogosphere, but that doesn't mean that I can't tell you why you should start a blog!

Here are my top 5 reasons to why you should start a blog!
1. It gives you your own little plot on the internet, where you can say whatever you want.
2. You can get your writing known outside of your local area.
3. You can collab with other bloggers to get a wider audience and make new blogger friends too!
4. It gives you some experience with HTML coding, as annoying as it is, it is handy for the future!
5. And most importantly, you can improve your own writing and inspire others to get writing too!

I was inspired by Emily from 0FFTOTHERACES and Millie from Corkscrew Curls to write this post, so make sure to go check out their blogs! :)

Why did you start blogging? Why do you think having a blog is important?

"Smells like Teen Spirit"

A while back, I decided to paint a canvas for an art project I was doing at the time.
I've been meaning to post it for a while now, but I realised I would have to write an amazingly detailed post to put alongside it!
But here it is...

"Smells like Teen Spirit"

1. I decided to put green hair on this character and I gave her a pizza collar, because who doesn't love pizza?
2. I put Lady Rainicorn on the bottom of the canvas, because I love love LOVE Adventure Time!
3. I used Nirvana lyrics as a caption, because I included all my favourite things on this canvas.
4. This cloud was inspired by 'The Fault in our Stars' by John Green, a lovely, tear-worthy book.
5. Fall Out Boy are an awesome band and I decided to include them because I have great memories of singing along to their songs with my friends!
6. I used a garden background, because it was simple but colourful.
7. This cloud is inspired by Paramore's album 'Riot'. The artwork is so gorgeous and so are the songs.
8. This cloud is inspired by Pierce the Veil's album 'Collide with the Sky'. I enjoy listening to this album, so that's why I included it in my canvas.

So, I hope you enjoyed this post...
Words cannot express how proud I am of this canvas, it took me a whole weekend to complete!

Do you like my canvas? What are your favourite things?

"I would go out tonight, but I haven't got a stitch to wear..."

Morrissey.
You either love him, hate him or have utterly no clue who he is.
Myself, I didn't have a choice. I have grown up with 'Moz-loving' parents, who have inflicted their affection towards the arrogant Smiths frontman upon me.

I decided to paint a young Morrissey for my Mother's birthday card, after being inspired by an 'Oh gosh, Cindy!' print on etsy.
I think it turned out pretty well, as I sometimes struggle with drawing realistic characters.  (Something I need to work on!)

playlist // autumn leaves

I'm starting a new feature here on elevator brain.
This is because I want to have a bit more variety of posts, rather than two pieces of art a week, because I know this can be a bit boring!

So here it is. It's called, playlist//. Basically a feature I will post once in a while to show you guys what I'm listening to, so I hope you enjoy!

I hope you enjoy listening to it :)

Books Take Me To Amazing Worlds.

Books! Aren't they amazing?
I've loved to read since I was tiny and with that I have adapted the annoying habit of feeling sorry for anybody who says they "don't like" reading. I mean how can you not like reading? You can't not like reading, you just need to find an awesome author to start you off.
I'm sure that some of you readers may not like to read or a just in the search of a good book, so here are five I reccomend!

I drew some book related drawings for a recent art project, so I thought it would be appropriate to feature them here.

'Books Take Me To Amazing Worlds.'
Pencil sketch on watercolour background

Random Book Tower
Fineliner drawing with collage techniques
What are your favourite books? What are your opinions on my recommended books?

new features on my blog?

Hola amigos,
I am writing this quick post, because I would like to add more features to my blog but I'm a little stuck for ideas.
What would you guys like to see me do? More paintings or sketches? Or maybe even everyday non-art related things?
Leave your ideas in the comments below, I'm looking forward to reading them! ^-^

Crazy Girls.

'Heaven is a Halfpipe' was created by using collage techniques.
Just because you have pastel purple hair, doesn't mean you can't be a super rad skater chick!
I enjoy drawing weird characters. I like imagining what their personalities would be like. Would they spend their days searching through charity shops for vintage clothing or would they prefer an evening of blogging? Who knows? The possibilities are endless.
When drawing these strange characters, I always give them colourful hair. Because what's better than green, purple, blue or tangerine coloured hair? Nothing, I believe is the answer you're looking for.
I enjoy drawing crazy people, because they are the best kind of people.

'Pizza Lady' drawn with permanent markers and background made using paints, pencils and collage techniques.
I used the album arts of my favourite bands for the background, because why not? Also Paramore's album 'Riot' is the best.
What are your thoughts on my drawings?
Do you like drawing weirdos too? Because I really hope I'm not the only one.
